Self Help & Peer Support: Chalmers Community Services Centre Walking GroupPosted August 21, 2018 by Sarah Dermer
In partnership with the Canadian Mental Health Association’s Self Help and Peer Support group, CCSC is offering a walking group. Our Walking Group runs every Tuesday morning and all are welcome.
Christa, a volunteer from Self Help and Peer Support, comes with her son, Zachary, to our Tuesday morning cafes here at 41 Macdonell Street. She sits down to chat with guests and volunteers, works on a puzzle, has a snack and a drink. Then, at 10:30 am, she and Zack head outside for a short walk around Downtown Guelph, returning around 11:30 for a cold drink.
Interested in joining Christa on a Tuesday morning? Here is some incentive:
- Walking improves your mood.
- Walking with others reduces feelings of depression, anxiety and loneliness.
- Walking with others also creates a sense of belonging .
- Walking is free.
- Walking is a terrific form of physical exercise.
And here is more information about why joining a walking group is the best idea ever!
